The Brooks Quimby Debate Council has started off the 2012-13 season with a slew of exciting results in both American and British Parliamentary debate. As a team, Bates is currently ranked 14th in the country on APDA (American Parliamentary) and 19th in the latest Word University
The BQDC will be hosting two events this Saturday, October 6th. First, there will be a public debate at 1pm in Olin, and later there will be a watch party for the Bill O'Reilly vs. Jon Stewart debate at 8pm in Carnegie 215. Both events are open to the public.
The BQDC recently finished up another successful season on the American Parliamentary Debate Association circuit, culminating with the national championships held at Wesleyan University. Bates’ team ranking was 7th in the country, one of the best team seasons in recent memory.

Three rising seniors, three rising juniors, and five rising sophomores will comprise the 2012-2013 officer board after recent elections.
The Brooks Quimby Debate Council, currently ranked 9th in the world by the International Debate Education Association (IDEA), has had continued success since the end of fall semester.
